- Tropical rivers can mainly be defined by the enormous amounts of rainfall that cause these rivers to be the largest rivers in the world [2]. These massive tropical rivers are fed a huge volume of water by tributaries, streams, and creeks [3].
- Tropical rivers are unlike other typical rivers because they have three different types of rivers: clearwater, blackwater, and whitewater rivers [4]. Despite the name, blackwater rivers are the cleanest and clearest.
- Tropical rivers experience high temperatures and a lot of rainfall throughout the year, much like that of tropical rainforests. However, strong seasonality is a characteristic among most tropical rivers.
- Most tropical rivers have two very wet seasons and two very short dry seasons which can be due to both equatorial convective rainfall and monsoon-influenced rainfall [1].
- The vegetation type among tropical rivers ranges from floating grasses and epiphytic vines to inconspicuous flowering aquatic plants.
